icc champions trophy 2006

Sunday 5th november 2006 was a great day for me. A good colleague of mine, who is also the joint secretary of a State Cricket Association provided me pavilion passes to watch this great game of cricket,,,,,,,which is hated by some .....followed passionately by many.

My son and myself reached the stadium well in time and had to nearly wait for 20 min to get into the excitement at the stadium. A few of my colleagues also joined me.
It was a great day in another sense in that I could carry my Nikon camera with a 500 mm lense into the stadium and was eagerly waiting for the match to start so that I can start clicking. This was a first attempt to click photographs at an international match.

It was also exciting to see Lara the living legend in international cricket bat . However it was quite a disappointment to see him snick and get out. See pic above.

The match started with a bang ...Chanderpaul and Gayle striking the Aussies bowling at will.
Chanderpaul seen in the pic on the right smashes one into the midwicket boundary.

The excitement started building up in the stadium as the windies pounded the aussies and raced away to 50 in 5 overs. Great batting from the windies.

However the collapse started soon after.
